Connect existing Salesforce records
Connect Existing Records
Use record-level connect when both records already exist: the DOE account or stakeholder exists, and the matching Salesforce Account or Contact also exists. Manual connect links the two records without importing a new DOE record or exporting a new Salesforce record.
Connect An Account
- Open the DOE account detail page.
- Select Connect to Salesforce.
- Search for the Salesforce Account.
- Select the correct Account.
- Confirm the connection.
- Check that View in Salesforce is now available.
When an account is manually connected, DOE can automatically map stakeholders under that account when their email matches Contacts associated with the mapped Salesforce Account. Stakeholder conflicts are returned for review instead of silently choosing an unsafe match.
Video guide: If the stakeholder exists in both systems under the same mapped account, matching emails can automatically connect the DOE stakeholder to the Salesforce Contact.
Auto-connect stakeholders
- Connect or import the DOE account to the correct Salesforce Account.
- DOE checks stakeholders under that account against Contacts associated with the same Salesforce Account.
- When one stakeholder email safely matches one Salesforce Contact, DOE connects the records automatically.
- Review conflicts or unmatched stakeholders instead of forcing an unsafe match.
- Open an automatically connected stakeholder and confirm View in Salesforce is available.
If DOE cannot find one safe match, use the manual stakeholder steps below.
Connect A Stakeholder
- Open the DOE stakeholder from the mapped account.
- Select the Salesforce connect action.
- Search for the Salesforce Contact.
- Choose the correct Contact associated with the Account.
- Confirm the connection.
- Check that View in Salesforce is now available.
When To Use Manual Connect
Use manual connect when matching did not happen automatically, the domain or email is missing, the automatic result was ambiguous, or both records already exist and you do not want to import or export anything.
If the domain or email is different, manual connect is still allowed when the user knows the records represent the same company or person. After the connection is confirmed, DOE stores the Salesforce object ID and uses that ID as the record link.
Do not manually connect records unless you are sure the DOE record and Salesforce record represent the same company or person.
